A Taste of Nepal - Dates to be Announced

Enjoy a sampling of Nepalese culture on this easy and comfortable itinerary that includes visiting the major sights of Kathmandu Valley's three ancient cities: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan; the peaceful village of Pokhara at the base of the Himalayas, an easy 4 day trek thru several traditional villages and wildlife viewing at Chitwan National Park.

We will explore Kathmandu City's Durbar Square and Swyambhunath Stupa; in Patan: Kwa Bahal, a Buddhist monastery dating back to 12th century; Mahabouddha, 14th century Buddhist monument and Uku Bahal, best known place of worship in Patan and in Bhaktapur: Nyatapola Temple, Dattatreya Square containing the Dattatreya Temple with a 3 headed combination of Hindu deities Brahma, Bishnu & Shiva; various ornate Hindu monasteries known as Math--including the 15th century Pujari Math, the most famous, which has the finest wood carvings and the celebrated Peacock Window.

Next we spend an afternoon river rafting to Pokhara, a peaceful village surrounding a small lake at the base of the Himalayas.

From Pokhara we will enjoy an easy 3 day trek, walking an average of 3-4 hours in the morning and 2 hours after lunch. As we walk along the peaceful ranges surrounded by terraced hills, colorful fauna painting the landscape, eagles soaring high above, and the majestic Annapurna Himalayas towering all around, you will feel higher than royalty. The name of this trek "The Royal Trek" was conceived after Prince Charles of Great Britain trekked here in the 80s.

We return to Pokhara at the end of the trek and enjoy an independent day of relaxation here where one can choose to stroll the village, boat ride on the lake, shop, or just enjoy restful time at the hotel.

From Pokhara we travel to Chitwan National Park and stay at the famed Toger Tops Jungle Lodge. You have a chouce of selecting accommodations in the lodge or in deluxe tents.

Before returning home, you can choose an optional extenstion to visit the Taj Mahal. You would fly to Delhi, overnight, and drive to Agra the following morning to spend a full day visiting Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. What an incredible way to end your journey!
