Kandy Festival: August 3-11

Sri Lanka is a land of pageants and processions dating back over 2,500 years. Every year, in the lunar month of August, the schenic hill capital of Kandy comes alive with the grand spectacle of the Kandy Perahera. The Buddhist Festival is famous throughout Asia for its dancers and elephants adorned with embriodered cloths. We will journey through history first to Anuradhapura, rhe first capital of ancient Sri Lanka, then Polonnaruwa - the medieval capital, to see the great white rock sculptural monuments and temples before arriving in Kandy where we explore for three days while attending festivities.
